Bestival Radio: Thursday Round Up

Thursday might only be the warm up day but things were heating up nicely already at Bestival Radio. Bestival Radio stalwarts Rev Milo Speedwagon and Lucy Pink eased us in to the day before Safe As Milk took over followed by an excellent selection of classic tracks from Classic Album Sundays. Check a video interview with her here:
Next up we had local sounds from Headfunk representing the best music the island has to offer with characteristic in-studio energy, ‘Wight Trash’ hats and some excellent impromptu live sets.

They were swiftly followed by a dose of mid-afternoon madness from Mark Jones. Joining the dots between electronic music across the years there was a good dose of classic electro and new wave in there, warming things up for later in the day and the Back to The Phuture showcase in the big top with Gary Numan et al. Needless to say the show wasn’t all music, there was a healthy dose of gaffer tape involved, and some wigs.
Later on Beans on Toast provided an early evening highlight matching up his own off-beat acoustic jams with a choice selection of his favourite music. Bestival Radio producer extraodinaire and DJ Kate Hutchinson played an excellent selection of UK bass from the likes of Disclosure (playing on the radio later this weekend!) with a little Lauren Hill thrown in.
Ten o’clock was the moment everyone had been waiting for with Hot Chip joining the Reprezent presenters for an interview before they played the big top. They covered important topics ranging from animal heads to the apocalypse, watch the full video here:
Nidal, Sombrero Soundsystem and more played us off in to the night ready for the first big day of the festival. Welcome to Friday people!
